PRE AND POST INJECTION INSTRUCTIONS FOR RADIESSE TREATMENTS
Pre-Injection Instructions:
- Medications and Supplements:
Avoid taking blood-thinning medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and other NSAIDs for at least one week before your treatment to reduce the risk of bruising and bleeding.
Stop taking supplements like vitamin E, fish oil, St. John’s Wort, and ginkgo biloba for the same duration. - Alcohol and Tobacco:
Refrain from consuming alcohol for at least 24-48 hours before your appointment, as it can increase bruising.
Smoking can delay healing and increase the risk of complications. Try to quit or reduce smoking before and after the procedure. - Health and Skin Condition:
Ensure you are in good health on the day of your injection. Reschedule your appointment if you are sick or have an active infection, especially near the injection site.
Inform your provider about any known allergies, skin conditions, or previous complications with dermal fillers or botulinum toxin injections. - Skincare:
Avoid using retinol-based products or performing any aggressive skin treatments (like peels or laser) on the treatment area for a week before your appointment.
Come to your appointment with clean skin, free of makeup, moisturizers, or lotions.
Post-Injection Instructions:
- Immediate Care:
Apply a cold pack to the treated area for 10 minutes every hour for the first few hours post-treatment to reduce swelling.
Avoid touching, massaging, or applying pressure to the treated area for at least 24 hours to prevent displacing the filler. - Activities and Exercise:
Refrain from strenuous activities, heavy lifting, and vigorous exercise for 24-48 hours after your treatment to minimize swelling and bruising.
Avoid significant movements or positions that put pressure on the injected areas, especially when Radiesse is used for buttock augmentation. - Heat Exposure:
Stay away from direct sunlight, tanning beds, saunas, and hot tubs for at least 48 hours after your treatment. Heat can exacerbate swelling and redness. - Alcohol and Smoking:
Avoid alcohol consumption for at least 24 hours post-treatment to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling.
Smoking can impair healing. Continuing to avoid or quit smoking post-treatment is advisable. - Skin Care:
You may gently wash the treated area with a mild cleanser and water the next day. Avoid using harsh or exfoliating products until the skin has fully recovered.
Use a high SPF sunscreen to protect the treated areas from sun exposure. Sun damage can affect the longevity and appearance of your Radiesse results. - Follow-up and Touch-ups:
Attend any scheduled follow-up appointments with your provider to assess your results and discuss if any touch-ups are needed.
Report any unusual side effects or concerns to your provider immediately. These may include significant swelling, asymmetry, pain, or signs of infection. - For Radiesse Body & Buttocks:
Avoid pressure on the treated area, strenuous activities, and submersion in water for at least 48 hours.
Recommend oral nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications as needed.
Keep Tegaderm in place for 48 hours post-procedure.
Perform active circular massage twice a day for the seven days following the procedure. - Final Results:
Remember, the final results of Radiesse may take a few weeks to fully manifest as swelling subsides and the product integrates with your tissue.
